John Muir Memorial Endowed Chair

THE UCLA GEOGRAPHY JOHN MUIR MEMORIAL ENDOWED CHAIR

Thanks to a generous establishing gift by Hollis Lenderking (UCLA Class of 1973), through a program of research, education and outreach the UCLA John Muir Memorial Chair seeks to engage the discipline of geography and geographers with pressing critical issues concerning the environment and sustainability of California and the North American West.  Activities include the establishment of a biannual symposium on the topical issues of the West, establishment of a YouTube Channel for communication, research on environmental sustainability and climate climate change in California and the Southwest and support of Muir Graduate Fellows working on the geography and environments of the West.

The current holder of the Muir Chair is UCLA Distinguished Professor Glen M. MacDonald

You can learn more about the Muir Chair and its activities at the Muir Studio YouTube Channel, Glen MacDonald's Web Site and Research Facebook Page  and through the video interview posted here.
