Biography
My dissertation examines the evolving legal frameworks governing lithium extraction in Chile’s Atacama Salt Flats in the context of the Global North’s transition to clean energy. Since the establishment of Chile’s Environmental Superintendency in 2010, both lithium companies operating in the Atacama Salt Flats have been found in violation of their environmental compliance agreements. My research focuses on these ongoing environmental sanctioning processes to investigate the spatial impacts of legal frameworks, the power dynamics, and the diverse actors shaping and negotiating Chile’s lithium environmental regulations.
